Support and Share Ideas
This group is led by one of Elliot Hospitals knowledgeable maternity nurses. New Moms are welcome to come with their babies to ask questions and share stories about the 'New Mom' experience. Breastfeeding and diaper changing is common place in this setting. As are all the unexpected occurrences an infant may bring.
A small library is on hand with books on many subjects related to infant care. These books can be signed out for a period of time so Moms can increase their knowledge and confidence while carrying for their new family members.
Members of the group also make time to get together outside of group time in social settings. This gives Moms a chance to get out and about with peers who understand the difficulties of maintaining normal social situations while caring for their babies. This can make all the difference in avoiding the pitfalls of the 'baby blues' many women experience while adjusting to life as a mother.
